A note on meta keywords in 2026
Google has not used the meta keywords tag as a ranking signal since 2009. However, the same keyword list is still useful as: (1) a seed for keyword research with tools like Google Keyword Planner, (2) input for your title and description, (3) tagging in some CMSs and internal search. Yandex and a few other engines do still read meta keywords lightly.
